Global Citizenship

Global Citizenship equips our young people to play their part as active world citizens, locally, nationally, and internationally. Collective worship and cross-curriculum projects are planned to allow our children to develop an awareness of themelves as global citizens. We use a range of resources, and make links across the globe to learn how others live their lives. This provides important context to our children and enables them to develop a strong sense of justice and injustice.

Global Partnerships

We are excited to partner with the Merry Ideal and Making Inspirations (MIAMI) Kindergarten and Primary School located in Uganda, Wakiso district and Bulabira Village in Autumn 2024. They are a primary school with children from the age of three to twelve.

For our first project, we are completing a ‘Day in the Life’ activity, documenting a school tour and daily activities.

In the Spring term 2025, we are looking forward to partnering with Thamuru School on the outskirts of Thika (approximately 25 miles North East of Nairobi) in Kenya. The school is near a large flower farm where many of the parents work. This work is notoriously lowly paid and many of the jobs are of a temporary nature, associared with health risks, harsh working conditions, no protective gear and chemical inhalation. Many of the children at the school would be lured into absenteeism if it weren't for the support of the African Children Fund's porridge programme. This means they are ensured of a meal while at school and are able to recieve an education without risk of starvation.

Global Citizens

To connect with global issues, we regularly use the resources of Christian Charity ‘Christian Aid’ who work to fight poverty across the globe.

They believe: ‘Everyone is equal in the sight of God. Yet we live in a world where poverty still persists. Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of their dignity and lets injustice thrive. But together we have the power to transform lives.’

Each week, each class includes a Christian Aid prayer space activity in their reflection area to provide a global focus to their reflections. Our hope is to develop children who have the courage to, ‘Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves’ (Proverbs 31:8).
